My New Washable Rug

Hello friends!

It has been quite a week over here, 2 out of 3 kids home sick and me trying desperately to get my house in shape for a big photo shoot with Tracey Ayton on Tuesday! Last week I shared an exciting announcement about my home being featured on my favorite blog, The DIY Playbook…you can catch up on that new by clicking here.

There has been a flurry of activity around my house, getting it photo ready. One of the rooms that received a refresh was my dining room. I got rid of our old table and purchased a new one from Pier One. Sadly mine has been discontinued but this one from Wayfair is similar.

I also took out a console table that was against the wall because it was feeling a little cramped. While I appreciated the room having more space and being brighter, it was feeling a little flat and I knew the space was begging for a rug. I finally pulled the trigger on one for our dining room and today I want to share the details with you!

I have never put a rug under any of our dining spaces before because I was too worried about the kids dropping food on it and ruining it. I try very hard not to decorate my house with anything that is too precious or that will stress me out. That being said, I love the look of a rug in the dining room and had admired this in other peoples homes. This Dining Room, for example:

I also love this Dining Room …

A rug really warms up a dining room and adds character. Because I didn’t hang any curtains in our Dining Room – the windows are offset and curtains look weird – this room needed some texture. I also don’t have very much color in this room, the wall are quite neutral and the furniture is black and wood. Even my hutch is very neutral as it’s styled using mostly white dishes and wood elements.

For a few months now, an ad has been popping into my instagram feed for a company called Ruggable. This company has designed area rugs and runners that you can wash in your washing machine…yep, you read that right! “Ruggable’s 2-piece Rug System consists of a removable, waterproof and stain-resistant Rug Cover and a nonslip Rug Pad”. I kept thinking this rug was too good to be true, but I decided to give it a try and order one for my Dining Room. After combing through the website, I decided on the 8×10 size of this one.

It arrived earlier this week and I was dying to see it. My sister and I opened it up and laid it out on the floor and I was in love. The pattern is perfect! It’s a little more blue in person than it appears on the website, but it’s not overwhelming.

The pile on this rug is kind of non-existent, so if you are looking for a soft cushy rug, this might not be the right option. As you can see from the picture below, the rug is thin and reminds me of something vintage.

The fact that it is low pile is one of the things I love about it for our Dining Room …it will be easy to keep clean.

Even though the pile is low, the rug still feels soft to stand on (or lay on if that’s what you’re into!)

Not only am I beyond impressed with the look and feel of this rug, but just as I had hoped, it was exactly what my dining room needed!

I hosted a group of ladies from my neighborhood last night and I couldn’t help but show off my new rug. Everyone was so impressed with how it looks and feels! I love sharing new discoveries with friends, which is what prompted this post today. This is not a sponsored post and Ruggable isn’t paying me to say nice things about their product. I just really like it and want to spread the word to other families with pets and kids!

I am so happy with this rug that I have ordered another one for our kitchen and I can’t wait! I wanted a similar style but slightly different pattern/color, so I chose this one:

I love the up close view of the color palette for this rug…all the heart eyes over here!

If you have any questions about my new rug, don’t hesitate to leave me a comment below! If you have also purchased a ruggable rug I would love to hear what you think of it!

Thanks so much for reading friends!
