Post Six
Well, we have our first week of Spring Break on the books. It has mostly been a staycation at this point, and it's actually been quite realxing and low-key! Trying to keep my teen girls entertained and off of their phones has been a bit of a challenge - most of their friends are away and the weather has been pretty terrible. But aside from that, I have been enjoying the lack of scheduling and slower pace. This coming week we are headed to Phoneix for a quick getaway and dose of sunshine. Let's dive into my weekly five shall we?

New Rug

I have slowly been giving my dining room a makeover and I am almost ready to share a reveal. This past week I finally rolled out this carpet - I ordered it during a black Friday sale back in November and it was sitting in storage forever while we painted and installed picture molding to the walls. I can't get over how perfect this rug is with the wall color I chose.

Seeing items on a digital moodboard is really helpful, but there is nothing more satisfying to a designer than seeing the vision come to life in a room. The last thing to do before I can call my dining room makeover complete is to hang some artwork in the room. I'm almost there and look forward to sharing the details of this space on the blog-I love how it's come together!

Visit to Washington and Daytrip to Seattle
The first weekend of Spring Break, we made a quick trip down to Washington to check in on our cabin on Big Lake. We had a renter in there for the past 6 months and he moved out at the beginning of March.

My youngest and her friend tagged along and we made a little daytrip to Seattle. Both girls are huge fans of Grey's Anatomy and they wanted to do the iconic ferry ride to Bainbridge Island. It was such a fun and easy daytrip.

The ferry was only $18 each way - for car and 3 passengers! I also want to mention that there were puzzels set up on the tables in the cafeteria to help pass the 35 minute crossing time, so cool!

The teens had me on a pretty tight schedule, with not alot of patience for touring around so I may have to repeat this trip another time, it was such a beautiful spot with gorgeous homes on the water and a charming little town with shops and restaurants. We lucked in with the weather - it was Saint Patty's Day afterall. The rain broke and the sun came out which was such a treat!

Spring Decorating Post with Urban Barn

Spring arrived this past week, although it didn't feel like it here in Vancouver. I wrote a blog post, two years ago now, for the Urban Barn blog about decorating your home for Spring. You can read that post here: https://www.urbanbarn.com/en/right-at-home-blog/inspiration/how-to-decorate-your-home-for-spring/

I share lots of tips on how to welcome the changing season into your home. Here are some photos I took for the blog post:
As you can see, I am all about the Spring blooms! I love refelcting what's happening outside in my seasonal decorating.

Birthday Consultation
I had the pleasure of conducting an in-home consultation as a birthday gift for a design-loving 12 year old last weekend. I had so much fun meeting with Laine and her mom Alison. Laine had a pretty clear vision for how she wanted her bedroom to function and what style she liked. I was able to help her figure out what new pieces she needed to add to her room to bring her vision to life, and most of the items we sourced were from IKEA. Here is the moodboard collage I put together for her:

Red Wine Bolognese
I have made this pasta sauce a few times now and it has become a family favourite! It's very easy to make and I have served it over different types of pasta and it's always a winner! I highly recommend it!
That's a wrap
Signing off now to go and take a much needed hot bath after today's workout class at YYoga! Thanks so much for reading along, have a great week ahead!
