Fall 2023 Picks for Home & Fashion

While I am a summer forever kinda person and drag my heels into Fall, I have to admit that there some things that I look forward to with regards to the changing season. I call it my cozy homebody era, and I welcome those nights curled up on the couch with a cozy throw blanket. I also enjoy the foods of Fall - pumpkin pie, chilli and of course Thanksgiving Turkey dinner. Yum. I made this turkey chili over the weekend and it has been a fan favourite over here.

There is also nothing like good old fashioned retail therapy to help transition from the long hazy days of summer to the cozy days of Fall. I love to see what retailers have in store, in both the fashion and home decor categories. Today I thought I would share some of the items that have caught my eye, and in some cases found their way into my shopping cart! Lets go through store by store:

Target

I enjoyed a long leisurely visit to Target a few weeks back over the labour day weekend and lots of cute things caught my eye. I was immediately drawn to this tablecloth, I am a sucker for gingham.

I ended up ordering the napkins as well.

I discovered this soap last year and I was obsessed , so when I saw it on the shelves I quickly added to cart. I don't know why something that is called "Fall Leaves" smells so good, but it does!

This vase was too good to pass over and I had so much fun styling it with some fresh dahlias that I picked at a local farm. I snapped some gorgeous photos with my "good camera" and it was such a fun creative activity. Flowers and photography fill my creative bucket!

Pillows and throw blankets are the easiest way to transition our space through the seasons. Fall is all about the warm colors for me, rust, greens, caramels, browns, burgundy, golden yellow - all inspired by what's happening outside!

This blanket is so pretty and as you can see below, looks great paired with a rust color pillow (sadly the one in the image is sold out)

The Studio McGee for Target Fall collection in general is full of really stylish pieces.

Urban Barn

I recently wrote a guest post over on the Urban Barn blog sharing a list of my favourite items for Fall. I got to borrow some items for a photo shoot and even though I did take everything back, there were a few pieces that I might add to my collection. These rattan boxes are top of the list...

They look perfect on my built-ins don't you think?

Crate & Barrel

I had to pick up this mirror for a client install and couldn't resist a good thorough browse through Crate & Barrel...I love it there! They had some gorgeous Fall styling goodies. In particular I was loving these pumpkins, as well as these ones! They also had some gorgeous faux Fall florals and a cute Halloween mantle display!

Gap

I have to admit, I love sweaters...it's one item of clothing I find hard to resist and probably own too many of. The name of this sweater says it all for me ...I mean "blanket" is the first word! And coffee cup brown is about the best color name ever!

I purchased this cardigan at the end of the summer to replace a similar item in my closet that was worn out.

Old Navy

There are some cute basic pieces at Old Navy right now. Over the labour day weekend I picked up these cute shoes, and this cute t-shirt.

Birkenstocks

Now that school and activities are back in session, I spend ALOT of time driving ...every weekday evening I am picking someone up from something between 9-10pm. True confession, I often do these pick-ups in my PJ's and I am always looking for something easy to slip on my feet. I have had these Birkenstocks on my mind since last year and I decided to treat myself to a pair. They are definitely spendy, and I thought about buying these dupes from Target. At the end of the day, I decided to invest in the real deal. I own two other pairs of Birkenstocks so I know first-hand the long-lasting quality they bring to the table. I don't mind spending money on something I will get a lot of wear out of. My stylist friend Lori refers to this as "cost per wear". I feel the same way about a good quality pair of jeans. I invested in these last year and don't regret it at all! I wear them at least twice a week.

Well, that's all from me! Leaving you with a few cute photos I snapped while visiting a little farm stand in Washington over the weekend:
