I was recently approached by Urban Barn to be featured on their blog, and I couldn't be more honored! This might sound a little "woo woo" but I just have to share - during the first week of 2023, I created a vision board highlighting some dreams and goals for myself in the coming year. I had two brand collaborations on my list and Urban Barn was one of them. A little over a week after creating my vision board, I learned that I was on THEIR list of Designers to feature! A pretty cool example of the power of manifesting dreams and goals, wouldn't you say?
In case you don't know, Urban Barn is a major Canadian retailer with 55 stores across the country, from Victoria to Quebec. The first store opened it's door in 1990, right here in Vancouver on Cambie and 12th. The Park Royal location in West Vancouver is my local store and I pop in to visit often, even if I am not buying anything. I draw inspiration from seeing and touching things in person, and I love chatting with the staff.
I am part of the Trade Program and shop the store both for myself and clients quite frequently. The furniture and accessories cater to the modern, organic style that I love, with a price point that is accessible.
In addition to the style and quality of products offered, the core values of Urban Barn as a company are very much in line with our mission statement here at Little Nest Design, which is to create stylish and functional spaces for families. This quote from their website illustrates our shared values... "we’re inspired to help you create a home that expresses who you are. Let’s make it yours with beautiful, well-made furniture and accents; we curate accessible home décor for design-conscious people". Beautiful, well made products that are affordable and stylish - Yes yes and yes!
Their tagline 'Right at Home" embodies the idea that home should evoke feelings of comfort and familiarity, which is what I strive for when I am designing a space for my clients. I think your home can and should reflect your personality, tell your story and be your soft place to land.
I have many Urban Barn pieces throughout our home - they are family and kid approved! Our dogs log many napping hours on the Nixon sofa in our family room and Ginger LOVES to sit on our Alexa office chairs. Makes me laugh every time.
I hope you will pop over to the Urban Barn blog and read the feature. In it, I share the story of how I got started as a Designer, where I got my business name as well as favorite furniture pieces.
I will leave you with a mood board collage of some of my current favorites, links to the products are shared below.
