Hello friends! Today I would like to invite you in for a little tour around my home so I can show you how I decorated for the holidays this year. Come on in!
Entryway
I strongly believe that your entryway should not be overlooked when decorating because it’s the first part of your home that people will see when they come over. I added a few decorative items to the top of our shoe cabinet at the front door to make things look merry and bright!
I put some faux greens and berries in our striped vase and then the vintage box with mini trees. My youngest decided that our Elf on the Shelf pet looked quite at home here, so it was added to the vignette.
I added two strings of garland to my stair railing and then the plaid ribbon to the newel post for a little something extra.
I have started collecting stockings from the Hearth and Hand (Joanna Gaines) line at Target and decided they were best showcased here as well, I hung them from command hooks along the railing.
At the top of the stairs, I added some seasonal decor to our bookcases and also put out my collection of pictures with my kids with Santa.
I love these little wooden trees, they are one of many Target “dollar spot” section finds…
Living Room
Our main living room is my favorite place in the house this year. I made some significant changes to this room this past Fall and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out!
I made these red ticking stripe cushion covers last year, and love the colorful “Joy” pillow paired with it on my chair.
Last year I noticed the trend of “Christmas Tree Collars” emerging on the scene and I decided I wanted one for our main tree this year.
Part of the joy of decorating for the season each year is pulling out sentimental objects, and my kids stockings are pretty nostalgic to me…
I also hang the picture ornament from their first Christmas with their stocking. I love these cute house stocking holders that I found at Superstore (a Canadian Chain) this year… they even light up!
Our coffee table is one of my favorite things to style year round, but especially for the holidays! I used my black tray to coral a collection of decorative items…my wooden vases with a sprig of faux holly, a vase of ornaments and this seasonal Anthropologie candle that smells soooo good!
I love to have seasonal books on display. Some are new…
and some are vintage, like the Charles Dickens Christmas book I found at a used bookstore.
Seeing as we spend a lot of time looking at the TV, I thought I should add some decor to that part of the room as well. I kept it simple with some faux garland, bottle brush trees and then a snow globe on one side and this cute little house on the other…the house was also a Target dollar spot score.
Dining Room
Last week I shared two different Christmas table ideas with you in this post, but most of the time our dining room is pretty simple. I keep a runner on the table, some candles and this vintage dough bowl filled with pretty ornaments.
I also set up the kids tree in here …normally I put it in the family room, but I thought it would be too tempting for Ginger. I actually like it up here anyway. We actually haven’t gotten around to decorating it yet, but it will happen! I love this dough bowl filled with ornaments on the table. It’s easy to move when need be.
Family Room
The decor in the family room is pretty simple thanks to our new puppy. This is where she spends a great deal of time, and it’s like having a toddler in the house all over again.
All I could muster in this area were some plaid polar fleece throw blankets and a Christmas pillow, that ironically says “All is Calm (Ginger is so not calm) and All is Bright.
I do love how I styled my mantle this year, and so far she hasn’t attempted crawling up there to grab anything. Fingers crossed she remains uninterested!
The kitchen is not overly styled, just some fun pops of Christmas cheer…
My kitchen sees a lot of action this time of year because we bake a lot of cookies here over the holidays, like these whipped shortbreads.
And then I thought it would be handy to have some gift wrapping supplies on hand, so added some items to my wooden tray.
I also love the tiered tray with hot chocolate supplies and cute mugs. At this point, I am running on coffee, tea and cookies all day long!
My open shelf above our baking area got a little makeover as well. My last Target dollar spot find to share with you is this cute sign…
Well, that brings us to the end of my Christmas Decorating tour. If you have any questions or comments, I love hearing from you so share them below. If you saw anything that inspired you, save it on your Pinterest board for future reference.
Thanks so much for reading!
